Under Floor Heating is All Over
What is Under Floor Heating?
The history of under floor heating dates all the way back to the Roman times, then they were using an air heating system. These days you have the options of electric and liquid under floor heating systems. Well, before you decide on which type of under floor heating system suits your needs, let us first have an understanding of how such a system actually works.
Typically, a radiant under floor heating system has a series of tubes which are placed on a concrete slab or any other bed like that and it is then covered on the top by any regular floor covering. The good thing with radiant under floor heating system is that you can choose any type of flooring – from hardwood to tile.
Alternatives you have
Now that you have understood the basics of the under floor heating system, the next thing you need to know is the difference in the way different types of radiant under floor heating systems work. An air heating system is the least preferred of the three mainly because it is unable to retain heat over a long period of time. You can do with such a system in places which are traditionally warm.
But if you need proper floor heating and you reside somewhere where the winters are really chilly then you have to opt either for the electric under floor heating system or the liquid under floor heating system. The choice depends on the need. In case you are building a new house and you need only a section of the home heated, then a wiser choice would be to go for the electric one. But if you want the whole of your new house warm and cosy, then try the liquid system. Again, if you are in the process of remodelling your old house then it is always prudent to go for the electric under floor heating system. But do keep in mind that the electric systems do consume a lot of energy, so your electricity bills would soar.
Hope you have got a clear picture about under floor heating system by now. You are now ready to go and get the right one for yourself.
