Laminated flooring: Get the beauty of wood without the hassle.
Laminated flooring is a popular choice today because it has the look of a wood floor, but is easier to clean and to install. Today, many leading flooring companies offer laminates in a huge variety of styles and “wood” types, so it’s easy to find some to match most any décor.
You can get laminate that looks like Wide Oak, Spanish Maple, Hickory Plank, Aged Timberwood, Burnished Maple, and more from some of the best flooring retailers. And the best ones, like Wilsonart, pay close attention to detail, placing crevices and grooves into the laminate to look as much like real wood as possible.
It’s also easier to clean than natural woods. Real wood floors are not very water resistant, as opposed to laminate, which you can take a mop and bucket to. Bamboo and cork are the most water resistant of the natural floors, the others should only be wiped with a mildly damp cloth to clean up spills.
They are also easier to install, if you are planning to install your own flooring – beware! Natural wood can involve a LOT of work and even large equipment. Laminate, on the other hand, usually requires not much more than fastening or gluing the planks together.
