Installing laminate flooring is much simpler than trying to install wood floor on your own
If you’ve decided to go for the natural look of wood and the simplicity that laminate offers, then you’re in luck – because laminate is not only easier to clean than natural wood, as well as water-resistant which means it’s likely to last longer, but it’s much easier to install. Here’s what’s usually involved in installing laminate flooring (Though not a step-by-step course! This is an overview of what you can expect. And of course, different brands vary):
Before installing any flooring, be sure to wear safety goggles. The kind of base floor you start with will make a difference, for instance, with a concrete or low grade floor, you will need to lay down the foam with a moisture barrier.
It is important that you inspect each plank before installing and not to install ones with any damage – as damaged planks may not be under the manufacturer’s warranty.
With most laminate floors, the joints will need to be joined with special water-resistant glue, this glue will be needed to join the tongue and grooves of each plank. Every brand differs here, Pergo usually requires the most glue, while ALLOC has a glueless interlocking system.
It is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, too much or too little glue can be disastrous! All of the little details are important. As long as you’ve read all of the instructions, and you follow them according to the manufacturer, you shouldn’t have to many problems, and will hopefully end up with a beautiful shiny new floor!
