You might even want to simply have a hardwood banister for effect. A little or a lot, hardwood most always adds a natural elegance to your home décor.
If you do decide that you want a complete staircase of hardwood, there are a few different ways you can go about this, and a few things to consider.
Installing Hardwood on Stairs
Installing hardwood flooring is one monstrous task, but installing hardwood on steps is a whole other beast! Really - this should only be done by an expert – this is a complicated task and not a project you want to mess up.
Why, you might ask? Mainly because if you are installing it onto existing flooring, oftentimes the substrate of the existing stairs has to be removed to make way for risers and treads.
One way to avoid this is to install hardwood over the existing staircase.
Another way to bypass this altogether is to buy prefabricated wood staircases. Sometimes, this can also be less expensive than installing onto your current staircase.
Whatever option you choose for your staircase, hardwood, however much or little, is sure to make a lasting impression in your home.
